DOLLS STOLEN FROM RESIDENCE IN BIRMINGHAM ENGLAND

A quantity of large early dolls has been stolen from a Birmingham England collector.

PUBLISHED MAY 12, 2008

Whilst mourning the death of her husband, Jackie Wyartt tells us that individuals helping her pack her large collection of antique dolls, instead helped themselves.

Among the stolen dolls were several early dolls bought for her by her late husband.  An unknown number of dolls are missing, but her main prizes are the dolls her husband gave to her, some of which are listed here:

  • Large Queen Anne Torso: the thieves may have doctored or re-gessoed this doll.  If they completed the doll, it would have made a doll about 28 to 30 inches tall;
  • Queen Adelaide hairstyle papier mache, 24" tall;
  • 32" Pumpkin Head Wax;
  • 26" Pumpkin Head Wax;
  • Several Rare Early China Head and Parian Dolls;
  • 6 to 8 American Indian Dolls;
  • Also missing are antique guns and documents from her late husband's collection.

All of Jackie's dolls are rare due to their large size, so if you have purchased any large, early, dolls from the Bromsgrove, Droitwch, or Redditch area of Britain, chances are they are Jackie's dolls.  Investigation is underway in an attempt to secure customs information regarding antique dolls, guns, and documents shipped to Germany, France, or Switzerland.

If you come forward with information, you will NOT be held responsible for the stolen items and may claim compensation.

If you have purchased anything to do with antique dolls or guns from these areas of England, please help Jackie.  She is having a difficult enough time recovering from the death of her husband, without having fallen victim to thieves under the guise of helpers.

Apart from a police investigation, there is also a private investigator following up leads in Germany.  It would seem that only a very prominent collector or museum would have purchased these items, as they are very rare in these larger sizes and the thieves were/are likely to ask a sizable sum for their purchase.

A further note:  The thieves may also have been helped by a relative who frequently helps them with internet sales.  If you have purchased any early large dolls from a Midlands address, please write Jackie at the following address:
